Wind Symphony
Condcutor: Mr. Lum Rehearsals: Mondays, 7:30 – 8:30 pm The Wind Symphony is the senior band ensemble, comprised of students from Grade 10 to 12 who stay at school every Monday night until 8:30. The extra hours that these students put into the ensemble have paid off as they have enjoyed much success in the Kiwanis and MusicFest Music Festivals. Wind Ensemble Condcutor: Mr. Church, Ms. Lintott Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm The Wind Ensemble is the main ensemble for grade nine band students at Agincourt. Mr. Church, Ms. Lintott and the members of the Wind Ensemble would especially like to thank the senior students of the Wind Symphony who have taken extra time to help them out with sectional rehearsals. Symphonic Band Conductor: Mr. Church Rehearsals: Mondays 6:00 – 7:30 pm The Symphonic Band consists of Grade 10's and invited Grade 9 students. Festival Winds Conductor: Mr. Lum Rehearsals: Mondays 6:00 – 7:30 pm The Festival Winds consist of Gr.11 and Gr.12 band students, and some invitational Grade 10 band students. Little Bits O' Jazz Conductor: Ms. Lintott, Mr. Butash Rehearsals: Mondays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm The Junior Stage Band consists mostly of Grade 9 students (and a few Gr. 10s to fill out the band) learning the jazz idiom. Musicians in this ensemble get an introduction to various styles of jazz as well as improvisation as well as gaining familiarity with full jazz arrangements. Xperiment Conductor: Mr. Lum Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm Made up of all grade 10s (hence the X - roman numeral for the number 10). This is the intermediate level of all the jazz groups. Influence-11 Conductor: Mr. Butash Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm Agincourt's newest addition to our jazz ensembles. This band consists of primarily Grade 11 students. This group plays a relatively advanced level of jazz music. North East Jazz Conductor: Mr. Lum Rehearsals: Wednesdays 7:45 - 8:30am, 3:15 – 5:00 pm; Fridays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm The Senior Stage Band consists of a handful of carefully chosen jazz musicians that dedicate their Wednesday mornings and Friday afternoons to the study of Jazz repertoire. |
Concert Orchestra
Condcutor: Mrs. O'Reilly, Mr. Butash Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm The talented 80 musicians from both Grade 9 and 10 string classes combine once a week to form the Concert Orchestra. They are under the currently under the direction of Mrs. O'Reilly and Mr. Reid. Symphony Orchestra Condcutor: Mrs. O'Reilly Rehearsals: Thursdays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm The Symphony Orchestra is the senior strings ensemble comprised of Grade 11 and 12 students at Agincourt. In addition to approximately 60 string players, the orchestra also borrows some much-needed wind and percussion players from the band program. They meet once a week to work mostly on traditional orchestral repertoire. Chamber Orchestra Condcutor: Mrs. O'Reilly Rehearsals: Wednesdays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm The Chamber Orchestra is comprised of approximately 15 - 20 members. It is the only auditoned stringed ensemble in the school where students will render historial pieces of music and make them into audible musical masterpieces. Guitar Ensemble Conductor: Mr. Butash Rehearsals: Thursdays 7:45 – 8:30 am The Guitar Ensemble is currently new to Agincourt. It consists of students in the Grade 11 guitar class. They get together to rehearse classical and contemporary music. Concert Choir Condcutor: Mr. Church, Mr. Pinhorn, Mrs. O'Reilly, Ms. Lintott Rehearsals: Mondays - Thursdays, 7:45 - 8:30 am The Concert Choir is comprised of students in Grade 9 and 10 who rehearse four mornings a week. Through diverse repertoire that is studied and performed, students develop their vocal technique, improve their music reading skills and expand their general knowledge of music. Agincourt Singers Condcutor: Mr. Pinhorn, Mrs. O'Reilly Rehearsals: Mondays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm Agincourt Singers is our senior vocal ensemble and they rehearse on Mondays at 3:15pm. The students that comprise this 120 voice choir, take time every week from their busy schedules to sing and learn repertoire of varied styles from many historical periods. Madrigal Singers Condcutor: Mr. Pinhorn Rehearsals: Tuesdays, 3:15 – 5:00 pm The Madrigal Singers is the only auditioned group of singers in our school. It consists of approximately 30 students in Grade 11 and 12 who love the challenge of singing in a small vocal group. This choir originally started as a place to study early renaissance music, or madrigals, from which the name of the choir stemmed, but has now expanded to include more current repertoire in addition to classical and renaissance. |
